The PTC depends very heavily on parent volunteerism. We are fortunate to have many very dedicated parents who step up each year to run committees, but we are always looking for more help! Below are some great volunteer opportunities we hope you will consider.
UDA (Understanding our Different Abilities) is a parent-run program with a mission to promote understanding, empathy, acceptance and respect for all people regardless of differing abilities. Through the use of multi sensory activities, speakers and discussions with parent volunteers, elementary students are introduced to a broad range of abilities, both visible and invisible, to reinforce that we are all different. Understanding and accepting those differences creates a stronger community. This program has been running for over 12 years at Hillside and it has become part of the curriculum. The essence of the program hits directly at Hillside's core value of being kind and respectful of ALL people.
UDA's specific goals for students are:
Please consider getting involved to help keep this amazing program running. NO previous experience is needed! The current co-chairs will be graduating from Hillside this year and we need two or three parents to replace them.
There are still a few empty spots. Volunteering in media is a great experience and the kids love having their parents there! Please consider taking on a slot!
If you are able to volunteer, please contact Reva Winston to get on the schedule.
The 2017 Hillside Talent Show will be held on Friday, April 7th.
As we gear up for this fabulous event we need your help in getting ready. We are planning an informational session in January where we will review the tasks and type of help we need. Please let us know if you are interested in joining our committee by sending an email to: Hillside PTC Talent Show.
Further details will be posted through the newsletter and PTC emails. We hope to see you there.
The Yearbook Staff invites students and parents to submit photos for the yearbook. If you've got great photos of school and community events or you and your friends just having fun, we'd like to see them. Our photographers can't be everywhere. Help us get as many photos as possible to create a terrific book everyone will want to have. Here is how you can submit photos online:

Consider the Hillside Gift Book program. For a $15 donation that goes directly to the Hillside Media Center, you can get a personalized name plate placed into a specially selected book in the Hillside Media Center. Imagine the look of delight when your child or other honoree sees their name in the front cover of the book!
To participate in the Gift Book Program, download, complete and send in this form (along with payment) and Ms. Hitron will take care of the rest!
The Needham Fire Department is looking for community members to help keep fire hydrants in neighborhoods clear during the winter months, and they are offering a contest that will enable the winners to get a ride to school in a fire truck!
