How will ALICE be implemented at Hillside? Come to the meeting to find out!!!
From a recent article in the Needham Times, about the Needham-wide implementation of ALICE: "Standing for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate, ALICE is not sequential, but is intended to help school personnel and students assess their options during an active shooter incident."
To learn more details about implementation of ALICE at Hillside, join us on June 1st at 6:30 p.m. in the Hillside gym, where Michael Kascak and other Hillside teachers and staff trained in the ALICE protocol will share information and answer your questions.
For more general details about ALICE training, go to the ALICE Training Institute website.
The PTC depends very heavily on parent volunteerism. We are fortunate to have many very dedicated parents who step up each year to run committees, but we are always looking for more help! Below are some great volunteer opportunities we hope you will consider.
Do you remember what it was like to be a new family at Hillside? We have many new families starting this fall who need your advice, help and support! We are looking for volunteers to be buddies for incoming families. The role is relatively simple, but has a great impact for the Hillside community! Please let us know if you are interested in being a buddy to a new family by replying to Clair Windsor and Sarah Docktor.
We need some help writing up press releases and ensuring they get into local papers and other relevant venues for our community events, including the Halloween 5K, the Hillside-Eliot Basketball game, and Spring Carnival. No experience necessary, just a willingness to help. This is not a huge time commitment and can be done on your own schedule.
Our wonderful coordinator, Diane Carr, is moving and we are looking for someone to fill her big shoes. This role is a lot of fun – it involves coordinating community service projects and overseeing the lost and found for Hillside school.
We are looking for ONE parent of rising 5th grader(s) to work with the 5th grade Thank You committee. This committee of students meets monthly and writes thank you letters to local organizations and people who have helped the Hillside community.
The PTC Co-Presidents would love some additional help identifying potential new sources of fundraising revenue for the school. We also need help raising sponsorship dollars to cover the up-front costs of organizing the Halloween 5K event as well as donations for our annual calendar raffle that will be held in the spring. If you have great ideas are a particular strength in soliciting donations, the PTC would love to have you as part of the team!
Ticket packets went home with your kids. There are really some very fantastic raffle prizes donated by various businesses along with Hillside families! This annual fundraiser helps the Hillside PTC raise much-needed funds to support the PTCsponsored enrichment programs.
We will start drawing tickets and giving out raffle prizes on June 6th. Tickets will be drawn each day that week through June 10th, with prizes awarded every school day. The raffle period will close out with the raffling off of some large prize items at the Spring Carnival on Sunday, June 12th.
We need help at the carnival! If you’re going to be there anyways, consider donating some of your time to help us make it a very successful event.
To register for a slot, please click on the button below.
If you cannot be at the event, but can bake a cake for the ever popular Cake Walk, please email Tricia to let her know.
The Spring Carnival is just around the corner. Please join us for a fun filled family day. It is open to the entire community and beyond. Money raised stays at Hillside! Please help spread the word. Share the Facebook post, tell your friends ...
Looking forward to seeing you there!!!
